Data governance, particularly sovereignty and patient data ownership models will be examined in a new report commissioned by InGeNA.

The report will explore industry’s role in driving value from genomics information management in Australia.

It will consider how industry can contribute to enhanced information and data management in genomics to increase the value to the health system and the consumer.

A key area is information governance, for example defining an industry position with regard to better supporting clinicians in decision making with genomics data.

Data for precision medicine, technology, interoperability and diversity will also be covered in the report due out later this year.

The report will build on previous work undertaken through Australia’s National Health Genomics Policy Framework  and the 2020 Blueprint for a National Approach to Genomic Information Management with a specific focus on the role of industry.
