It was an honour to attend the second Genomics INSPIReD Showcase in Brisbane on May 21st this year.  Hosted by the Queensland Health Office of Research and Innovation, it was fantastic to be part of an event that brought together such a rich cross-section of Australia’s genomics and precision medicine ecosystem in one room.

A sincere thank you to Saras Menon, Chelsea Gourgaud, Senel Idrisoglu, and the entire Queensland Health Office of Research and Innovation team for organising a showcase that was both substantive and warmly run.

Congratulations to the best poster winners, whose work added real depth to the day’s conversations:

  • Lindsay Fowles and Sarah Smith
  • Emily DeBortoli
  • Jenny Berkman

What made the showcase particularly valuable was the diversity of people in the room. We were delighted to connect in person with members of InGeNA’s Consumer Advisory Group, our industry and research members and partners and the dedicated staff at Genomics Australia. These face-to-face conversations across consumers, researchers, industry and government are where the real work of building a connected genomics ecosystem happens.

At InGeNA, we remain committed to representing the industry as we work to bridge the gap between genomics and patient outcomes. Events like the Genomics INSPIReD Showcase remind us why that collaboration matters and we look forward to next year!
