InGena's Mission

InGeNA is a not-for-profit, charitable institution established and operated in Australia to advance the health and wellbeing of Australians and predict, prevent or control diseases by increasing equitable and affordable access to genomics through harnessing the expertise of the genomics industry and collaborating across the Australian health sector. Our purposes include: 

  1. advancing precision health and wellbeing through genomics based healthcare to predict,
    prevent, diagnose, treat and manage disease by promoting genomics through education,
    publications and events;
  2. promoting the safe and effective use of genomic information to integrate genomics into health
    and wellbeing pathways;
  3. promoting Australian genomics innovation and expertise, and supporting initiatives that
    encourage equitable and affordable adoption of genomics at a larger scale;
  4. supporting the development of a qualified and skilled workforce capable of applying genomics
    in preventing disease and predicting, diagnosing, treating and managing the health and
    wellbeing of individuals;
  5. collaborating with the Australian Federal and State Governments, consumers, healthcare providers,
    academic institutions, research institutes and others to enhance Australian health and quality
    of life whilst removing systemic barriers to accessing genomics; and
  6. promoting debate and advocating for reform to drive equitable access to genomics to ensure
    vulnerable or disadvantaged Australians can also benefit from the significant advances in
    health and wellbeing enabled by genomics.
