InGeNA is delighted to host Dame Professor Sue Hill, Chief Scientific Officer for England and Senior Responsible Officer for Genomics in the NHS, during her visit to Australia from 12 to 16 October 2026.

Dame Professor Sue Hill has played a leading role in establishing the NHS Genomic Medicine Service and integrating genomics into routine healthcare in England. Her visit provides a significant opportunity for Australia to learn from the experience of implementing genomic medicine across a national health system.

InGeNA will host a special cross-sector event bringing together Dame Professor Sue Hill and leaders from across Australia’s genomics and precision medicine ecosystem.

The event will be relevant to:

• Industry and technology organisations

• Researchers and research institutions

• Health system leaders

• Policymakers and elected representatives

• Clinicians and pathology service providers

• Patient and consumer advocates

• Professional and sector organisations

The venue and detailed program are currently being finalised and will be announced shortly.

This visit comes at an important moment for genomics and precision medicine in Australia.

The Australian Government’s $200 million Precision Health Research Program creates an opportunity not only to advance research, but also to build the infrastructure, capabilities and partnerships required to translate discovery into clinical care.

Decisions being made now will influence whether Australia can connect research, data, testing and healthcare delivery in ways that support sustainable implementation and equitable access.

Drawing on England’s experience, the visit will support national discussion about:

• Scaling genomics into routine healthcare

• Translating research investment into clinical and patient outcomes

• National implementation models and testing pathways

• Data, consent and interoperability

• Workforce and health system transformation

• Sustainable public-private collaboration

• Equitable access to genomics-enabled healthcare

The broader Australian program will include engagements with government, Genomics Australia, parliamentary stakeholders, industry, clinicians, researchers and patient and consumer representatives.
